Historical Moments

This is how I define a historical moment - My baby nephew and neice meeting for the very first time at 3 and a half months old for baby Chloe, and 4 months for baby Zayden.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Baby Chloe was tired on Sunday, while baby Zayden wouldn't stop squirming. Kudos for Leeling jiejie for feeding him and making him sleep before they came to grandma's!

Photobucket

Baby Zayden enjoys kicking the air.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Baby Chloe photo got overexposed, and I tried to salvage it by contrasting it and adjusting the midtones, but it came out looking like some old photo taken years ago. Still so cute, though.

Photobucket

I'm not allowed to say this in front of baby Zayden because he will get cranky, but baby Zayden is FAT. Soooooo pinchable! And so strong!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Rare photo of baby Chloe's big big eyes. She was in this position on her daddy's lap, and she suddenly got shy, and both Leeling jiejie and I got the teeniest hint of a smile before she buried her face (smile and all) into her daddy's tummy.

There, I said it - TUMMY. Her daddy's got a tummy. Bwahahahahaha!

Photobucket

Lazy enjoying the veiw from far away (he's scared, lah)

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Ready... Round one fight!

Photobucket

Ok lah, don't fight don't fight.

Photobucket

Baby Zayden started treating his granduncle as a roller-coaster by grabbing his arm tightly.

Photobucket

Aren't they absolutely the sweetest?

SL Prawning No. 2

Prawning with the supernice people from SL on Friday night.

Photobucket
My camera sucks, lah.

Met a lot of nice people. Unfortunately, as they are from SL, I don't think it'll be nice to actually list out who's who, when posting their pictures here is already overstepping some boundaries. Muahahaha.

So here are the pictures. You know who you are, lift them out if you like.

Photobucket
Shy, lah

Mr Funny Face bribed me with ice-cream not to post his unglam close-up. So, for ice-cream, Imma let him off. This time.

Camwhoring. Again.

We sucked as prawn catchers.

Photobucket
Don't ask me who she is, I will not give out her contacts.

And a very big HELLO to Mr Kam WeiXiong, who caught me coming out of the toilet, and came over all the way from the other side to say goodbye when leaving.

Very sweet lah, you. Catch up again when we can, okay?

Comfortable

It's comfortable to hide in your mom's room once in awhile, a Chivas bottle on your left and a nicely mixed glass on your right, listening to the Laura Fygi CD you bought a few days ago.

Apparently, Laura Fygi is good for you. I thought of lending it to my mom, but now she's claimed it for herself and my sister is hankering after me to lend it to her as well. So now, the CD officially belongs to my mom. Go ask her for it.

I've never realized how comfortable my mom's room is. Clean and neat, huge LCD TV facing the bed, big manager office chair in front of the computer. Hi-Fi in that corner, i-con speakers here. Air-con blowing straight at you.

In moments, she's going to come back and I'm going to have to relinquish this seat and go back to my room where my mouse and keyboard caused me to come here in the first place.

Ah, there she is. I shall stop here and bid you all, adieu.
Spoilt

Mouse spoil. Keyboard spoil.

You start to feel like a cripple when you have a computer with no mouse and keyboard.

Why did it spoil?

Blogging from Mom's computer now. If you need me, hit me on my phone.

Review - The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor

Photobucket

This, is not the worst piece of shit ever created. But it's darn near there, right on the edge.

For some reason, I actually feel offended after I watched it.

For one, everyone's old. It's still okay.

They changed the person playing Evelyn from Rachel Weisz to Maria Bello. While Maria Bello is indeed a good actress, she did not match what Rachel Weisz stirred in us - a love for archaeology, Egyptology and most of all, adventure. Compared to her master acting skills, Maria Bello was just another pretty face.

If they're going to use old people in the film to preserve the authentic feeling of The Mummy nine years ago, they might as well use back the exact same cast.

Luke Ford absolutely trashed his role as Brendan Fraser's son. End of story.

Brendan Fraser was himself, though not as lovable in this film for some reason (I blame the script writers), but with less action and substantially less entertaining catchphrases. Old man already, lah.

John Hannah was spectacular in his supporting role as Evelyn's brother. In fact, he got one of the best roles (for this film) that stole chuckles and hearts from the audiences. By the way, did anyone notice what name his club was called? It's Imhotep, the name of the botak from The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.

Jet Li's role as the Emperor Han. While I'm not pissed with him, I'm pissed with the fact that the first emperor of China was Qin Shi Huang (note the missing "Han" from this name). Yes, he was half a monster by outlawing Confucianism and burying many of its scholars alive, yes, he might've entertained the thought of taking over the world, but he did not want to "enslave humanity for all eternity". Who in their right minds would want to do that? You'd have to be 9 years old to believe in this rubbish.

And for some really weird reason, whoever did the casting obviously did not do much thinking. Michelle Yeoh and Isabella Leong, while befitting of their roles, threw all respect I had for them out the window when they open their mouths. Both of them could not speak proper Mandarin, with Isabella calling Michelle "Mu Qing", quite literally meaning Mother.

Who the flash calls their moms "Mu Qing" anyway? During that era the way elders were addressed was different, yes, but the correct term is "NIANG". As in, "Which friggin' ku-NIANG wrote this script?". And for some reason, they were both speaking in English near the end, when Michelle summoned the CHINESE dead soldiers in ENGLISH, and Isabella crying and speaking ENGLISH to her CHINESE "mu qing" when her "mu qing" was about to die.

That's like me speaking German to you when you're in a tight spot and I'm trying to comfort you.

Anthony Wong got a long but shitty role because he was absolutely redundant in the show. So was his scar-faced companion. And even Wu Jing was absolutely redundant, because he only appeared for less than two minutes, despite his being a national champion in the art of Wushu. Might as well get some random guy and stick him in there for that measly two minutes of face-time.

As well, I see NO MUMMIES in the show. Not even one. It is not befitting of the awesome title of The Mummy. Being cursed and becoming a stone, then coming back to life and being able to turn into a three-headed dragon does not make you a mummy, it makes you a freak.

I must admit, Jet Li looks cool in his costume, and the effects were nicely panned. Which makes it all the more annoying that they're all wasted on this piece of crap. Under certain light angles, you can also sometimes see that his costumes is MADE OF PLASTIC. Especially if the place is dark.

I can't believe someone actually brought out the Yetis and someone approved of it. Yes, they looked nice, but seriously? Un-effing-believable. You're so out of it that you totally know you're in a cinema watching a show due to the incredulous "WTF?!"'s going on around you. It falls a long way short of two of it's prequels which engages viewers so much that the viewers were led by the noses into gasping at the majesty of the sand dunes and almost at once, heart-stopping panic at times.

Rob Cohen seriously wrecked the show.

An overview of the show? It's about some really bad guy wanting to destroy the world and some really good guys saving it in the end. With many big names that were un-utilised for their talent and the Mummy element thrown in hoping for a box-office success.

There goes the legend of The Mummy.

I Did Something Sinful Today

Seriously. I haven't felt so sinful since I ate that whole tub of peppermint ice cream by myself.

I spent $20 out of my remaining $30 on... CDs.

Laura Fygi, anyone?

Photobucket

This album is called the "Song Book", which was apt because it really was a song book

Photobucket

... with the CD at the back in a flimsy plastic covering slot in to a pocket made by two pages. It's a very nice design, very artistic.

It's all your classic jazzy numbers inside with a twist. Apparently, I snapped up the last piece. Unfortunately, this is produced in China, so the book is half in Chinese. $10 for this, and $10 for..

.... THE KING.

Photobucket

You know me. I can't resist this.

Photobucket

Song lyrics and pictures of the KING on the inside of the CD cover, old school style. The design of the entire thing is exquisite, from the cut-out numbers on the left (God-knows-what they mean) to the booklet insert on the right. This is also produced in China, which explains the Chinese words on the right.

It's a sinful, but happy day. ^-^
Just An FYI

From the Announcement board of SSDC's website:

"We will be moving to our new multi-storey driving circuit in Woodlands around April 2009. All student are advised to start their practical lesson and complete their training and Traffic Police practical test before our centre move to Woodlands.
If by then, you have not completed your training or passed Traffic Police practical test, your training and practical test would have to be conducted in Woodlands.
"

Pretty useless information for the likes of those who have 4 lines on their driving licence, but it's relevant for people like me who can only take my Class 2 licence coming November.

Estimated two weeks between each lesson, and an average of one and a half month wait for the TP test.

If I fail... Die.

I Smell Good Today

... and on a totally unrelated topic, I'm sure many of you have been wondering: How come Jazzy doesn't post pictures of Mandy anymore?

Well the main reason was because she usually won't stay still enough for me to position myself, much less get a clear shot. I do however get lucky sometimes, so here's post for my other daughter who's an evil monster but has stolen our hearts and affection.

So here's Mandy's growth so far (she's still tiny by my expectations. I want her to grow big big).

Symphony 92.4fm

It's like the most boring radio station ever, but I'm in a very relaxed mood so today is relax-radio-station day.

Updates: Work's good, organisation, eh, not so good.

But I'm still keeping it up. Bah.

Should I, or should I not go for yoga classes? Or piano classes first? Or ballroom dancing classes first? Saxophone classes? Guitar, even. Then again, I feel like going for an artistic photoshoot before my looks and figure (what figure?) goes.

I know I'm already busy like mad, but ... I want to be... busier. The abyss inside of me has been somewhat filled, but as with any hole you dig, it can never be fully filled back.

Let's see what happens when I squeeze in more dirt.
This Is Too Sweet For Words

Have you sprinkled your moose today?

Better Still, or Better Yet?

This is for you Jee.

http://www.englishforums.com/English/BetterStillBetterYet/dvppp/post.htm

"... "Better still" and "Better yet" are both used idiomatically to mean "Even better than what was just discussed." There will be a lot of chocolate at my birthday party, and better yet, a sundae bar." - Grammer Geek

Yes! I win (yet) again. Wheeeeeee~ You don't always win. Bleah.

This is just in case you didn't catch my MSN message proclaiming that I WIN.
Somebody Please Get Me This!

Photobucket

Please please pretty pretty please? I'll be your best friend forever, I promise!

Isn't he the sexiest thing alive? No wait, technically, he's not alive. And technically, he's only sexy when he wasn't so fat. So if you do get Elvis posters for me, make sure they're not the before-he-died fat ones.

I'm gonna plaster his face all over the kitchen when I get my own house in future. Set him in wallpaper with a 1970's streets at night background, red booth seats and black marble counter-tops. There'll be 6R photos of his (slim) face in black photo frames hanging along the walls and spotlights trained on the one life-sized Elvis cast in wallpaper.

Elvis in 1970's rock for my kitchen, and Audrey Hepburn in 1950's sophistication for my living room. Wheeeee~!

The Absolute Worst Feeling Ever

Have you ever felt the absolute worst feeling ever?

If you can only pick one example, which would you pick?

I'll give you 5 minutes to think.

.....

....

...

..

Got it?

What did you think about? Share with me. I'd like to know.

For me, the absolute worst feeling ever is when I get a fresh new ice-cream cone, and after one or two licks, the ice-cream topples off the cone and falls in an excruciatingly slow fashion to the ground, and I am left with an empty cone with droplets of melted ice-cream still in my hand.

You're excited about the chocolate/vanilla/peppermint/strawberry ice-cream, and how it's going to feel when you slide your tongue up its side, and how it's going to feel inside your tummy-ummy-ummy. And after the first few licks, when it didn't even make a difference inside your tummy, the damn thing topples off.

And while the falling ice-cream is still in mid-air, there's just too many mixed feelings to deal with. You know you have the ability to catch it in mid-air like a tennis ball, and yet you know it is not a tennis ball, and if you catch it with your hand it's won't do you any good either because you can't eat it anymore. And yet watching it fall to the ground is such a waste...

Then there is absolutely no point in eating the empty biscuit cone (although I know some of you enjoy the biscuit) without having the ice-cream to eat it with.

You know you can always buy a new one, but one is already wasted, so the feeling of eating it won't be as shiok as having the original one. So you give up on the idea of buying a new one and think about the melted one on the floor for the rest of the day.

Photobucket

That, is my absolute worst feeling ever.
Smells

As the breeze wafts past, pausing only to tease my face, I could smell him.

I don't know who, but it seemed incredibly familiar, it seemed like home. I turned and searched for the source.

Some old Japanese dude. Bah.

C.K Crave. Hugo Boss. Aigner, even.

This smell meant fun. This guy with this smell told jokes to make me laugh, or even played childishly with me.

This smell meant business, but with a tinge of cheeky, because that guy with that smell wore wacky-tacky ties to work on Mondays.

Hugo Boss meant a dark, mysterious aura mixed with Hokkein songs in an empty restaurant filled with colours wafting around us. Hugo Boss also meant pretty much 70% of the male population in SG.

It's annoying when people buy the most popular perfumes/colognes because suddenly you feel them everywhere (because that smell is everywhere).

So people, please buy the smaller and not-so-popular brands if you have to use them. It's easier to identify and to remember.

Now if I can only remember who it is....
My Little Girl

If they could see
Just what I see
When you're snuggling close to me
In bed and under the covers

They'd love you just as I do
If not so much more

Cos' you're my baby
And I love you so much
I love you so much
My baby Tracy

Random

I haven't shown you my office now, have I?

Photobucket

That's my seat, and my cuddly lamb cushion which keeps me warm. I got a window seat at last~!Window seats come in handy when you have an incredible headache or are stressed out.

This is my boss, looking blur after I told him not to give a face when I first took his picture.

Photobucket

Riders, does he look familiar to you?

And this is what happens when there are only two people in an office and both are smokers.

Photobucket

And here's my partner for the NAEF2008

Photobucket

Jean's shy, lah.

Apparently we're colleagues in Genesis yadda yadda yadda company, he's the Director of something-something and I'm the Chief something Officer of something-something. That's all I'm allowed to say.

Let me see, what other totally random picture do I have lying in my picture folder?
